About me

So happy that you have found my website!

On Lifestyle2go.com I share through weekly blogs, all my personal findings in the field of Lifestyle, which are life-enriching.

For years people have been picking my brains for tips on travel, fashion, interior, recipes, beauty, events and much more.

My creativity is partly due to the many worldwide travels I've made and the different countries and places where I have lived as a child with my parents, alone and with my family.

My work as an interior designer is something I have inherited from home. My mother was always busy with decorating and changing our interior. Subconsciously, I took the habit on as a child and made sure my room was always contemporary with a personal warm touch.

Since then I have assisted many projects, or with complete renovations, or with the intervention of the whole device with my company: MOS interiors.

As an interior specialist and editor of a lifestyle magazine, all wonderful places in the world that I have visited as well as the many people I meet on my path, have inspired me in my sense of color, space and insights into trends.

I am also very privileged to be allowed to live in an inspiring piece of world heritage: our own capital 'Amsterdam'.

Let me and my guest bloggers take you to the beautiful things in life and especially do not hesitate to provide us with your comments at the bottom of each blog-posts or on the Facebook page of Lifestyle2go.

Enjoy reading and viewing with pleasure!

Sun, sea… and fish!
Posted on: 30 may 2013 Posted by: Kitty

We’re all dying to get some sunshine. To me, if possible, teamed with a beach and… good food. I’ll have to wait a while before it comes to that, but for those lucky ones about to fly to the sun, I’m glad to share one of my favourite hotspots in lovely Portugal. It may be the ...

Let the sunshine in!
Posted on: 30 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

This spring it takes a lot of make do. It is chilly and you do not want to wander around in a winter-look all the time. There is not much option but to combine. Little summer at the bottom and a remnant of winter on top. It requires a lot of creativity, but also in economic terms, that we should in this time.

Tree house in the garden
Posted on: 30 may 2013 Posted by: Kitty

For kids, nothing beats having their very own tree house in the garden. We've enjoyed ours for six years now, and it’s still a precious playground to my children and their friends. Depending on the amount of space inside, your tree house just might turn out to be your teen agers' favourite chill spot in years to come.

Bodes en Bode
Posted on: 29 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

We were thrilled when Bodes and bode opened an other store, next to the one in The Hague, in Amsterdam. A true candy store for very woman. Beautiful jewelry, contemporary but they also sell antique unique pieces. For the young and older women. And you will also find sturdy bracelets for men. It was love at first side when we spotted the Dolce Gabbana look-a-like earrings.

The grey mare is the better horse!
Posted on: 29 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

Since a while I am intrigued by women who dare to let their hair become grey and beautiful. My nightmare has always been, getting older, having the typical Dutch fresh short purple-grey haircut with a cheerful perm. But what a hassle it is to constantly having to cover up your aging at the hairdresser in your precious time.

Zeeuws stuff
Posted on: 29 may 2013 Posted by: Anne-Marie

When I’m going to visit someone I often take something fun with me from my beautiful province of Zeeland. Nowadays I have so much choice that it is sometimes difficult to choose. Is it going to be the beautiful guest soaps, the hip necklace, the chocolates or that, very original, bicycle bell? In ...

“I got a Nike Fuelband” A what???
Posted on: 29 may 2013 Posted by: Berine

That's what I thought when I heardt hat. And with family in America (where it's already a very big trend) and as a blogger I should have really already known about it.. Anyways, some questioning and research later I’m sold. This item is definitely on my wish list! It’s a kind of bracelet, available in 3 colours; black, black ice and white ice (the ice ones are see through).

No strings attached
Posted on: 28 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

In wintertime I prefer simplicity. A watch with two or three thin yellow-, pink- or white golden bracelets next to it. But in summertime there are no strings attached! I go wild with all sorts of colored strings. Last year you could find the fluorescent colours here and there, but this year they pop up everywhere.

Tanning on the beach, not in my garden!
Posted on: 27 may 2013 Posted by: Berine

A day like today proofs us that it, indeed, is spring, almost summer. Unfortunately enough, such days as these are rather unique here in The Netherlands and I just wasn’t patient enough to wait for it. So to get a bit of my tan on and to really make use of a long weekend, we, my mum, dad and I, decided to go to the South of France.

Les Jeans, c'est chic
Posted on: 27 may 2013 Posted by: Kitty

Was any fabric re-invented as often as jeans? I don’t think so. This summer lots of variations on beautiful blue denim – the fabric that flatters everybody - made their way to the runway. I suppose there isn’t a living soul without some kind of jeans in his or her closet. In her new ...

To have it in black and white
Posted on: 24 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

De colour (or actually 'non' colour) black is has never left fashion. What does it say about a person if this person wears black a lot:
If you have a black colour personality you are a very independent thinker and have some unique and uncongenial thoughts, views and opinions. You are seen by others as somewhat a mysterious character that not many people can fathom.

Wall art
Posted on: 24 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

How do you achieve an interior with a whole different look? By working with guts.
Don't follow the trends on interior to much. So many homes look alike because people choose what is 'in' at that time or go for the same interior designer. Dare to experiment. I love working with special paint technics or wall paintings.

Black and Blue
Posted on: 23 may 2013 Posted by: Kitty

My eldest son Valentijn and I recently enjoyed a breathtakingly beautiful dance show called Bont en Blauw (Black and Blue), performed by Dutch company Introdans. The start of the show was magical and exciting at the same time, with the raven stage revealing nothing but arms, legs and feet. Clever use of mirrors, lights and shadows made for a truly miraculous spectacle.

Mystiek
Posted on: 22 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

Even in Rotterdam you will find the a lot of trendy restaurants, shops and galleries and so on. But first I would like to share with you this inspiring shop that I coincidently walked into. This spiritual- new age store is enormous. Relics of any religion can be found here and the biggest book collection ...

Insanity

Three kids, our own business, a busy social life and lifestyle2go: you'd reckon there wouldn't be any time left. Well, that's for sure. Still, throughout the years I've always made time for exercise, preferably two or three times a week. I love jogging in the beautiful sceneries of Twente, the part of The Netherlands where I live.

Living in waste
Posted on: 17 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

Once I had these closets made of waste wood. Friendly for our enviroment and nice to look at. They were mend for a boys room and so it come out handy that they had a sturdy look. The carpenters who made them at that time, where moving their wood factory to a new location and could use up all their rest(waste) wood.

4EVER WITH EVERYONE
Posted on: 17 may 2013 Posted by: Berine

Kae (19) is the creative brain behind this brand. At high school she often got asked by her friends to ‘just quickly make a bracelet’ for hem. So, with lots of love and fun she would work on it and gave them away as little presents. But last year she decided she could actually make money with her creations.

A weekend away in the Cape Winelands
Posted on: 17 may 2013 Posted by: Luisa

My husband Ash and I just made it to the very important 1 year anniversary milestone. To celebrate, he surprised me with a night away at a gorgeous B&B called Colourful Manor Luxury Lodge. It is positioned half way up the slopes of Sir Lowry’s Pass and overlooks the vast salt water of False Bay.

Jewels for Mother's Day
Posted on: 17 may 2013 Posted by: Kitty

My heart always beats a little bit faster on Mother's Day morning. Downstairs there's stumbling and giggling going on as my three kids prepare the sweetest breakfast ever. Afterwards, between cuddles, crumbles and crushed strawberries between the sheets, it's  time to admire their beautiful art works.

Posted on: 15 may 2013 Posted by: Berine

Working out and looking awesome Yes please!                You’ve probably seen them often in American diners, the park and seventies films. Especially when the weather is good you see them everywhere. Men and women of ...

Nomads
Posted on: 14 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

A lot of affinity I feel for Nomads and Gypsies. These itinerant people intrigue me. I fully understand their constant need and their unrest to move from place to place. My whole life I have experienced this feeling inside me. Wanting to discover new countries and places.  Never scared to move from one home to a next one.

Give. Me. Delicious. HEALTHY BONBONS!
Posted on: 14 may 2013 Posted by: Berine

(Gluten free, sugar free, lactose free, egg free, raw food)
Healthy eating, I live on it now a days. Ok, maybe not that extreme (I’m a real desserts person), but I rather eat kilos vegetables and nuts instead of 10 sweets or a piece of chocolate. Although I have to confess that it hasn’t been this way my whole life; my healthy lifestyle started April 2012.

Mirjam, our new catch!
Posted on: 13 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

We would like to draw to your attention that we are thrilled to introduce our new guest blogger: Mirjam Windrich. She lives in an other beautiful part of the Netherlands, Muiderberg. Like no one else she can play and fight with the Dutch language, since she has studied Dutch Literature. But she can also help you with taking some difficult steps on your life path as a mental (online) coach.

Bookcase
Posted on: 13 may 2013 Posted by: Mirjam

Give me a book and I’ll be happy. Am I over exaggerating? Of course, because there’s more in life than books, especially  the beautiful and cheerful things you can see and read on Lifestyle2go. Well then. How about a bookcase? Or a whole row of bookcases? How does that move me, I could ask myself, being a therapist.

Loo
Posted on: 08 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

It is mostly an underexposed area when thinking off interior decorating. But we do spend a lot of time there. Some more than others. I think we should all try to make the most out of this mostly tiny space. Cosy it up or have it totally re-designed. After all the loo is partly your business card towards friends, family and sometimes even clients.

Pimp up your bracelet
Posted on: 08 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

Years ago everyone, young and ol(der) wore these kind of golden bracelets. Therefore you might have one like this still at home in gold or silver. And what fun it would be to pump it up to a hipper example? I would choose fluorescent colors, but you can change it daily with any color that suits you.

Abdication in Natan
Posted on: 08 may 2013 Posted by: Kitty

Dutch designer Jan Taminiau received well-deserved high praise for the stunning dresses he created for queen Máxima at the Royal Inauguration Day on April 30. I think it’s a great thing that the house of Natan was also part of the fashion scene that day. The first creation that Máxima ...

You will see me a lot in this color red the coming months. I tend to feel very happy wearing this summery color and moreover it suits almost everyone. It will light up even the palest face.   Jacket: Pinko Tshirt: French Connection Pants: Zara Sneakers: Lemare Scarf: Marie ...

Queen Bea framed
Posted on: 08 may 2013 Posted by: Kitty

She was never a fashion queen. She’s less flamboyant than her Argentinean daughter in law. But how we Dutch admire our famously fierce former queen. Last week, while on a short visit to Het Loo palace in Apeldoorn, I was struck by the exhibition ‘Beatrix framed’. The beautiful and colourful images of Beatrix reflect her immense popularity.

The Hamptons
Posted on: 08 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

Used to be the summer colonies of the US where wealthy Americans would spend their summer. Originally, these summer colonies where a place for the "old money" families who owned extraordinary and expensive holiday houses there. Now a days, you will also find a lot of celebrities and other folks who just enjoy living near New York City, but still outside in a beautiful environment.

(our guest blogger Berine Mijnster as Jean Fordham) August Osage County, one of the most successful Broadway shows to hit New York City in many years. After a strong run on Broadway in 2007 selling out August Osage County tickets many months in advance, the Steppenwold Theatre Company decided ...

Manoush
Posted on: 06 may 2013 Posted by: Berine

A shop where I already come for years. Already as a small child, as if you’re Alice in Wonderland or walking through Sweetie Land. Upon entering, your eyes will be surprised by the most cheerful fluorescent colours. Everywhere you look you see pink dresses, yellow trousers, crazy tutus, green hats, matching bags and so much more.

Dorset at your place
Posted on: 06 may 2013 Posted by: Kitty

Can you praise your own guy in public? Of course J! Because everybody should know how my hubby is able to turn every event into a great party! In our own restaurant Dorset as well as ‘at your place’, in the intimate setting of a private dinner, lunch or party at your own home. Team Dorset takes care of everything, so the hosts can relax and enjoy their party.

Mr Finney for Kids
Posted on: 03 may 2013 Posted by: Kitty

Although not everyone was overwhelmed by our Orange princess Laurentien’s writing talent, my two youngest kids adored the protagonist of her book – funny fish man Mr Finney – right from the start. You’ve gotta love this curious little creature instantly, thanks to the beautiful and colourful illustrations by Sieb Posthuma.

Long live Jan Taminiau
Posted on: 01 may 2013 Posted by: Madelon

We are so proud of our Dutch designer! Maxima was again the 'Queen of the ball' in his two creations yesterday at the royal ceremony. When I was a little girl I secretly dreamed of being the next queen. Just for these beautiful dresses i would want to be in her shoes for a little while. But really ...
