About me

So happy that you have found my website!

On Lifestyle2go.com I share through weekly blogs, all my personal findings in the field of Lifestyle, which are life-enriching.

For years people have been picking my brains for tips on travel, fashion, interior, recipes, beauty, events and much more.

My creativity is partly due to the many worldwide travels I've made and the different countries and places where I have lived as a child with my parents, alone and with my family.

My work as an interior designer is something I have inherited from home. My mother was always busy with decorating and changing our interior. Subconsciously, I took the habit on as a child and made sure my room was always contemporary with a personal warm touch.

Since then I have assisted many projects, or with complete renovations, or with the intervention of the whole device with my company: MOS interiors.

As an interior specialist and editor of a lifestyle magazine, all wonderful places in the world that I have visited as well as the many people I meet on my path, have inspired me in my sense of color, space and insights into trends.

I am also very privileged to be allowed to live in an inspiring piece of world heritage: our own capital 'Amsterdam'.

Let me and my guest bloggers take you to the beautiful things in life and especially do not hesitate to provide us with your comments at the bottom of each blog-posts or on the Facebook page of Lifestyle2go.

Enjoy reading and viewing with pleasure!

Old habits die hard

I’m sure everybody has ingrained family traditions. One of ours – coming from a hospitality background – had everything to do with good food. Never economise on the quality of food, is a rule I still honour in my own family. Another tradition is to eat your meal on a beautifully decorated table, with a huge bouquet of lovely smelling flowers.

ancient stimulant
Posted on: 28 august 2013 Posted by: Madelon

A woman can not do without. The Aztecs already connected cocoa with the goddess of fertility. Six centuries ago, chocolate was only drunk and chocolate in the 17th century was a luxury product that was only used by the nobility. The first edible form dates from 1847. Cocoa could be lowering blood pressure and is experienced as an emotional stimulant, probably due to the presence of caffeine.

I just witnessed a memorable evening in film museum Eye for the premiere of "Borgman", where I was invited by my dear friend Eleke (together with famous Dutch actors, their families and friends) to the already critically acclaimed film in Europe by Alex van Warmerdam. A fantastic Belgian-Dutch cast of famous names, but the absolute king of this 'game' is the Flemish actor Jan Bijvoet.

special dresses
Posted on: 26 august 2013 Posted by: Madelon

If I'm really looking for a special summer dress, I always visit Pep's in Cannes.
They are really quite pricey, but long live the Sale! Then I take my changes. The dresses are not very trend sensitive and therefore handy for many summers more.   Pep's 35 rue Commandant André Cannes https://www.

screaming beans 2
Posted on: 26 august 2013 Posted by: Madelon

On September 14, 2012 I blogged about my favourite coffee shop around the corner: 'Screaming Beans'. In the past year a lot has changed in their company. They have undergone a massive transformation in the Hartenstraat and started a second shop in which they serve great wines and gourmet cuisine beside their famous coffee and tea.

symphony orchestra this weekend in Twente
Posted on: 26 august 2013 Posted by: Kitty

I have been told that it was a great show last jaar. Very pleased to be a part of this happening this year at one of the most beautiful spots in Twente at Gitta and Boudewijn!  De Wilmersberg and Dutch symphony is a musical and culinary connection for an outdoor concert with High Wine, next Sunday in De Lutte.

Modern wisdom for daily use!
Posted on: 23 august 2013 Posted by: Mirjam

It is quite amazing how easy modern ‘goeroes’ tend to imitate real wisdom and present it as if it was their own. Not that we’d want to call this steeling, but it seems that they do not realize that their lives are not the first for certain experiences to appear in. That doesn’t ...

'no love without freedom' a sweltering performance during Parade
Posted on: 22 august 2013 Posted by: Madelon

Because I was moved to tears by the compelling musical play of the People’s Opera house, I want to recommend all of you to go admire and listen to ‘No Love Without Freedom’ these last 4 days and evenings at Parade.   They lead you to Curacao at the time of slavery. The most ...

Rome by Bike
Posted on: 21 august 2013 Posted by: Kitty

When I went with my family to Rome last weeks, we rent a bike. That was great! You can avoid the traffic and at the same time discover a whole variety of alternative roads that represent Roman atmospheres.

my little secret in the morning
Posted on: 20 august 2013 Posted by: Madelon

Earlier I shared with you my day and night rituals in the field of skincare. But besides that I want to let you in on a little secret about a smoother skin. After cleansing my face and using the 3 minutes mask of Valmont’s Renewing Pack, I use Professional-C Serums from Obagi since a few months.

Red pepper

It was love at first sight when I saw this beautiful red dress in Rome. Hoss Intropia comes from Spain. And the designers both love to create special details with nice fabrics.

in loving memory of prince Friso
Posted on: 16 august 2013 Posted by: Madelon

A prince that I was able to occasionally hear about as a friend of my younger brother and my cousins. I myself met the newlywed Mabel and Friso on a beautiful island somewhere on this planet. We were hoping not to see anyone there and definitely not people who we know. That must have been their thought too when they were walking down the deserted beach and bumped into us with our four children.

Royal fabrics
Posted on: 15 august 2013 Posted by: Kitty

I’ve been told our flamboyant queen Máxima adores fabrics by Ikat. What a coincidence: so do I J. Visiting The Hague I always pop into Minty, the wonderful fabric store on Frederikstreet, owned by my dear friend Maria. It features the loveliest and most beautiful fabrics at a low ...

Scalise bains de mer/ saint tropez
Posted on: 14 august 2013 Posted by: Madelon

This brand originates from Saint Tropez and is inspired by the timeless myths from this charming ancient fishing village. Through the designs you will find the richness of legends as well as the rapturous nature of the region.   The swimming trunks, for men women and children, drip from the most elaborate details.

sparkling wallpaper
Posted on: 13 august 2013 Posted by: Madelon

Like any girl I get very excited with all that glitters and sparkles. The British brand Kandola already for years designs luxurious fabrics and wallpaper with a high glamorous touch. They are inter alia famous for their unique own embroidery collection, their inventive process of laser cutting fabrics and wallpaper and their use of the famous Swarovski crystals in some of their collections.

sturenhof stockholm
Posted on: 12 august 2013 Posted by: Kitty

Visiting Stockholm last june, I fell head over heels in love with this appealing city. Besides great museums and nice boutiques, there are many hip, but above all good restaurants. One of them is Sturehof, a trendy tied up hotspot, not to be visited in the evening (overcrowded).

For quite some time I was searching for cool earrings with fluorescent colours, when I spotted these handmade ones in an Ibiza type of shop in Saint Tropez. And no, it was not a bargain, but I immediately fell in love with them, so I had to buy them. And what is extra special about them, is the fact that they are handmade and therefore unique.

Talking about wedges...
Posted on: 10 august 2013 Posted by: Mirjam

We all know Rem Kolhaas being an architect, but did you know he designs shoes as well? These fantastic forms and colours, and let’s not forget the extraordinary variations in heels, are to be seen and bought in the Spuistraat in Amsterdam. United Nude!

These I bought lately. They are comfortable and attractive.

One of the most impressive books I’ve ever read: Tonio
Posted on: 09 august 2013 Posted by: Mirjam

This boek is called a ‘requiemnovel’, a name made up by the writer himself, A.F.Th. van der Heijden. He and his wife Mirjam Rotenstreich lost their son and this beautifully written book... brings him to life again.

It takes a lot to read it because you go through different sorts of experiences.

go crazy=Bagatelle St Tropez
Posted on: 06 august 2013 Posted by: Madelon

In April I have posted a blog about ‘ Saint Tropez in New york’. Bagatelle, the spot that turns upside down during their famous Saturday- and Sunday brunches.() After successful openings in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, St Barth, Dubai and Sao Paolo, owners Aymeric Clemente and Remi Laba implanted their brand on the sands of Pampelonne, just a few meters from Nikki Beach.

The power of vulnerability
Posted on: 05 august 2013 Posted by: Kitty

As far as I’m concerned, being able and willing to show vulnerability is one of the most important bases for making connections. To me it’s essential in friendships, but even in business it’s easier to level and make commitments if I show my vulnerability.

Pure Bali
Posted on: 03 august 2013 Posted by: Anne-Marie

After three wonderful weeks enjoying my vacation on Bali and Singapore, I'm back and full of inspiration for a fun travel blog. My family and I really enjoyed staying at "The Purist Villas and Spa" in Ubud Bali. The Purist is a small boutique hotel consisting  of seven villas, three with private pool.

On a hot summer's day....
Posted on: 03 august 2013 Posted by: Mirjam

On a hot summer’s day you can go swimming in the sea, walking in the parc or quietly stay at home with a nice book. But you can also pick up your bike and ride to Muiderberg, a lovely village near the IJsselmeer. As you can see, it is surrounded by cows! And woods, and a real castle, just before you reach it, is garding it.

jungle fever
Posted on: 02 august 2013 Posted by: Madelon

As you know by now I do not have a standard taste. I am always in to trying out wild things and different atmospheres in my interiors. With this bathroom I had the feeling it would bet o dull if I left it all white. The first years there were waves painted on the walls, but since the last few years it has turned into a vivid jungle.

Silk and your bloggergirls
Posted on: 01 august 2013 Posted by: Madelon

As promised I will show regularly the things I had made from Ghanaian fabrics. This blouse and trousers are made of 5 silk scarfs( 2 different ones) of the Vlisco brand. I fell in love with their new silk fabrics, but unfortunately you are not able to buy them by yard, but just as scarfs. My lovely seamstress Gladys in Ghana, together with her sister, makes the most beautiful things for me.
