About me

So happy that you have found my website!

On Lifestyle2go.com I share through weekly blogs, all my personal findings in the field of Lifestyle, which are life-enriching.

For years people have been picking my brains for tips on travel, fashion, interior, recipes, beauty, events and much more.

My creativity is partly due to the many worldwide travels I've made and the different countries and places where I have lived as a child with my parents, alone and with my family.

My work as an interior designer is something I have inherited from home. My mother was always busy with decorating and changing our interior. Subconsciously, I took the habit on as a child and made sure my room was always contemporary with a personal warm touch.

Since then I have assisted many projects, or with complete renovations, or with the intervention of the whole device with my company: MOS interiors.

As an interior specialist and editor of a lifestyle magazine, all wonderful places in the world that I have visited as well as the many people I meet on my path, have inspired me in my sense of color, space and insights into trends.

I am also very privileged to be allowed to live in an inspiring piece of world heritage: our own capital 'Amsterdam'.

Let me and my guest bloggers take you to the beautiful things in life and especially do not hesitate to provide us with your comments at the bottom of each blog-posts or on the Facebook page of Lifestyle2go.

Enjoy reading and viewing with pleasure!

Biker boots
Posted on: 28 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

We love all those biker boots this winter! Especially for all young girls, you can find them with studs, stones and stars. But for 40+ agers it is probably not what you are looking for. A sturdy and simple pair, and with a higher heel( what a feast) are the ones from Freelance. And on top of it you can get them in our favorite color green.

Restaurant Groenland
Posted on: 28 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

In the hart of the Netherlands you will find the very special restaurant Groenland. Apart from cooking with biological products, they combine environmental awareness and sustainability in their entrepreneurship. Even with the construction and the interior design of the restaurant they took these things in account.

Carpets are back
Posted on: 28 september 2012 Posted by: Kitty

Carpets are back. They come in all sorts and sizes. Just what we need on a cold and rainy autumn day or in the bleak winter that awaits us… Put that fireplace to work and drape yourself elegantly in front of it! On top of all that, a carpet brings coziness into your house and makes your interior complete.

Dsquared sunglasses
Posted on: 28 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

The sunglasses of Dsquared are a tremendous hit in Italy. My bff Janneke, my eldest daughter Pomeline and I decided that we couldn't do without one of those. We were lucky to get one at the market of Valbonne( every friday morning), France. but luckily you can also buy them online.

A gorgeous bouquet
Posted on: 24 september 2012 Posted by: Kitty

One single flower or a gorgeous bouquet can put you in the mood to savour the moment you're in. I enjoy this type of flower power every day, whether it be a nice specimen in my garden or flowers growing wild in nature. This particular bouquet was photographed in our restaurant, Dorset (). Even though ...

A born chocoholic
Posted on: 21 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

I have never eaten anything as delicious as this paste: white chocolate cream with pistachio, made by the Sicilian Fiasconaro family from the magnificent village of Castelbuono. It also comes in equally yummy chocolate-pecan and white chocolate-almond flavours. This stuff is to die for!

Eyebasic from Laura Mercier
Posted on: 21 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

If you do not want to have your eyeshadow 'walk away' during the day, than this is the solution. First apply the eye basic from Laura Mercier with the sponge and then smear out with your finger. After that apply your desired eyeshadow(s).

Woolrich parkas
Posted on: 19 september 2012 Posted by: Kitty

We are both very sensitive to the cold and - especially now that the chill of autumn is almost upon us - like to be well prepared... Woolrich parkas, besides being trendy, are luxuriously warm and comfortable. What a great thing that they come in so many happy colours!

Exchange Hotel, Amsterdam
Posted on: 18 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

This hotel is a real respite if you do not like to stay in the well known hotel chains( even though some are beautiful). Students from The amsterdam Fashion Institute were asked to decorate the rooms and so fashion and architecture blended so very well. All rooms are totally different decorated in a very tasty and original way.

Autumn colors
Posted on: 18 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

This week we where invited to the autumn event of Suzanne Loggere in 's-Graveland, where she showed the new collections of inter alia fabrics of Armani, furniture of Interna and wallpaper of Elitis. Suzanne has the largest wholesale company of the most beautiful fabric brands, with the most amazing showroom.

Screaming Beans
Posted on: 14 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

Although i am in the possession of two coffee machines at home, I rather take a walk around the corner for the best Latte Macciato. At Screaming Beans they even give courses to restaurants and coffee places in how to make the best coffee. Of course they also sell packaged coffee in all sorts of flavors and can give you advise in the best coffee machines.

Tilly's nailstudio
Posted on: 14 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

Autumn definitely seems to have entered our country this week. Summer clothes can be tucked away in a different closet or chest. And with all the warm new materials we should adjust the color of our nails. Here some beauties of Tilly's.

Fascinating Istanbul
Posted on: 14 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

My first introduction with fascinating Istanbul (now 4 years ago) was immediately a special and eventful one; 3 days of traversing the whole city with my Turkish friend Mufide. Since then, I have returned several times, many impressions gained. But what keeps on fascinating me is the atmosphere and above all the specials odors of the Grand Bazar.

Fashionshow Jos Raak
Posted on: 14 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

Last monday Kitty and I attended the ever so popular fashion show of Jos Raak in Amsterdam.
Although we adore tropical hideaways with associated climate, we get so much more inspired by winter fashion. All those amazing fabrics and the combination of them, boots, (fake)fur coats and especially ...

Sequel fashionshow Jos Raak
Posted on: 14 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

At the end of the show we were honored to stand aside the great master and loving friend, Jos Raak himself. (photo on top). So much respect for what he achieved. Everyone buys at his store. All those amazing fabrics and the combination of them, boots, (fake)fur coats and especially the fact that you are able to hide all your love handles and sagging skin underneath those delicious layers.

Until Sunday september 16th!!!
Posted on: 13 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

Just returned from Kassel (Germany) where after almost 100 days the 13th edition of dOCUMENTA is nearly coming to an end. When you are interested in an incredible art exposition with more than 300 participants and if you have some free space in your agenda, get into your car and drive down to Kassel for an overnight.

KASSEL (Duitsland) - Penta Hotel
Posted on: 13 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

If I could persuade you for a last minute trip to Kassel (Germany) to visit the 13th edition of dOCUMENTA (Click for the message about dOCUMENTA), just before it closes it's doors and parks for the next 5 years, here an idea for a nice place to stay. The room we had was not too big, but fine. Kingsize bed with a comfortable duvet.

Hotel SUMAHAN on the water, Istanbul
Posted on: 11 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

Last april my brother, sister and I took my mum on a surprise trip to Istanbul for her 70th birthday. I had been there a few times, but for my mother it was her first experience. We had kept it a secret for her until a week for departure and she was thrilled when we told her. In the first place because ...

Of course you have to visit the Grand Bazaar while in Istanbul. If you take the entrance at the Nuruosmaniye Mosque, you'll stand right in front of all the leather wear.   My favorite address for leather coats and jackets is: KOC   For leather bags and shoes: TONJI Kurkculer Carsisi ...

Istanbul
Posted on: 11 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

If you want to escape the hectic and have seen all the famous sights of the city, take a ferry or a private taxi boat to the Prince Islands. A marvelous trip takes you to these isles 20 km outside the coast, direction the Asian Sea. A lot of wealthy Istanbul residents own houses on the islands. That's why it is a lot busier in summertime then during winter.

Theehuis Dennenoord
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Kitty

Whenever I allow myself a moment of escape, I prefer to go for lunch with one of my best female friends at the Theehuis in Vasse. Out there, surrounded by the green lushness of Nutter and Vasse, you immediately switch to relaxed mode. Inside it's nicely comfortable and super cosy. My favourites are the goat cheese salad and the homemade apple pie.

Cappuccino
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Kitty

To me, every morning's greatest moment is taking a break with a lovely cup of cappuccino. Still, finding the very best kind is always a lot of work. Italian coffee - how I enjoyed spending almost 3 weeks in Sicily recently - just can't be beat. I think that's also due to the amount of love they put in there J.

Annick Goutal Ce soir ou Jamais
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Kitty

This perfume is a firm favourite. An extraordinary scent, not for every day. That's probably why it's still a firm favourite! I once got it as a gift from a friend, having used it for years (as had she!) without our knowing this about each other.

Intensive Hydrating Masque (Aveda)
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Kitty

The reason why I love this brand (also for my hair) is that they live up to their promises. What's more, all products consist of 95% natural substances and the company is very concerned with ecological sustainability. Which is a good thing in this day and age. I'm happy to see how an increasing number of companies take their responsibility in this regard.

Hermès
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Kitty

Ever since I was a kid I have adored Hermès fashion (I'm obviously not the only one!). Their boxes in orange en brown are brilliant. To me the brand represents timeless elegance and style. Audrey Hepburn meets Jacky Kennedy. Apart from some scarves and a beautiful watch, a real Birkin bag ranks very high on my wish list.

Natural materials
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Kitty

Natural materials give each interior its very own atmosphere. Dark wood goes perfectly with warm hues and animal prints. By adding plaids and pillows you create a pleasantly rural atmosphere with just a touch of nonchalance. This is a place that's fit for living.

Armani Luminous Silk
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Kitty

Not one for too much fuss on my face, I usually don't go beyond making up my eyes. However, those times when I do go all the way or have to be presentable after a short night (with my face still in shambles), I like to use this light foundation by Armani. It gives your face a magnificent glow. I always buy my Luminous Silk Armani at Schiphol Airport.

La Prairie - Essential Exfoliator
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Kitty

This scrub by La Prairie is lovely, I've been using it for years. Its rather coarse texture ensures that your skin is thoroughly activated and cleaned, making your face end up all soft and pink. This pick-me-up is also great after a short night and when your skin feels tired (by the way, one glass of bubbles in the morning works miracles as well J J).

A green tiger print desk
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Kitty

I really adore this tiger print. It makes for a surprising combo with that elegant little green desk. The nicely unorganized photo collage makes for a characteristic touch. Very important ? fresh flowers. No interior should be without them.

A white interior
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Kitty

A white interior is the epitome of feminine elegance. However, there's always a risk of it turning out too cold. I love warmth and cosiness, that's why this combination with natural materials pleases me. The way the light comes in here is magnificent, you just can't keep your eyes off.

My hair up high
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

Although I wear my long hair loose most of the time, I surely realize that i am approaching the age ( faster than I could wish for) where I should wear my hair up high. So I started collecting all sorts of photos with ingenious hairstyles like that.

Tired arms
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

Isn't it a hassle to blow dry your long mane without getting lame arms? This I find such an extraordinary solution for the problem. I am having it installed right a way in my bathroom this week.

Special glass ellips table
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

This remarkable glass ellipse table is for sale at retail price. This table consists of 2 toughened glass, table top and bottom. The space between the top and bottom is 8 cm and can be used as a showcase. The upright lining is made of cherry-wood, with old -Egyptian wood carvings. The legs are also made out of cherry-wood.

20-28 oktober Dutch Design Week 2012
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

During the Dutch Design Week in the old Philips factory in Eindhoven, nowadays owned by the famous designer Piet Heen Eek, young people expose their ideas, prototypes and products. Through the whole building you will find expositions and presentations of these young designers. And especially do not forget to lunch or dine in Piet Hein's grandiose restaurant.

CAFE de TUIN
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

In one of my favorite streets in the heart of Amsterdam, between loads of Italian restaurants and other fantastic shops, you'll find Cafe de Tuin. Because of the fact that one of our daughters lives in this street, we often stroke here for a lovely latte macchiato, breakfast or lunch. Absolut a popular neighborhood cafe, cause when i pass by in the evening, the place is also very crowded.

Restaurant WOO BROS
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

Open since a few months. Amazingly sweet staff who are willing to bend down and explain you all about the menu. Asian restaurants like these you will find a lot in London, but in Amsterdam you can count them on half your hand. So we needed more places like this. It is the younger sister restaurant of the famous Asian restaurant Dynasty.

Exposition Daphne Du barry
Posted on: 06 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

She immortalized numerous royalties and celebrities in bronze statues, such as the queen of Holland. Dapne du Barry was born in Holland and studied drawing at the Parisian school of the Hungarian master Akos Szabo and in Florence at the Accademia della Arti e del Disegno of the Florentine master Marcello Tommasi.

Moroccan badroom
Posted on: 05 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

This bathroom I designed 9 years ago, around two old Moroccan washbasins that I had found somewhere earlier. It had to become a very girly bathroom with a Moroccan look. I wanted the traditional Tadelakt walls, a waterproof piece work which is polished with a sharpened stone to obtain the most beautiful texture in any color you like.

LOUBOUTIN fan?
Posted on: 05 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

To tell you the truth, I am not such a big Louboutin fan. There was a time that I owned a black pair, but did not know how fast to throw them in a secondhand sale after a party where i felt incredible pain underneath my feet after an hour already. And you must admit, it is a difficult story, walking the boulders of amsterdam with shoes like that.

PRIVIUM CARD
Posted on: 05 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

My largest addiction in life is traveling. And that includes my love for spending time in airplanes. As a child I always dreamt of being a stewardess. And although i fly so often, each time I want to start of my journey being way on time at the airport. Love to wonder around there, enjoying the whole atmosphere, see all the shops and dining places.

Bookcase
Posted on: 04 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

In our apartment in amsterdam I obtained a bookcase for many books, as well as a spot to exhibit some of our favorite (art)objects. Furthermore I had the wish that it had to be made out of thick wooden shelfs, for a tough look, the backside open so you could see the color of the wall through. And I dreamt of a real library ladder.

The best exotic MARIGOLD HOTEL
Posted on: 04 september 2012 Posted by: Madelon

Because I am lucky, living in the capitol of holland, surrounded by a lot of cinemas with a wide variety of films, we indeed go as often as possible to watch a movie. I am not such a tv watcher, simply because I tend to fall asleep as soon as I install myself on the coach in front of the tv screen.
